Since 2021, Xiaomi has applied for more than 200 patents. Interestingly, Xiaomi cars have encountered obstacles in obtaining production qualifications. She had been pregnant for a long time, but now she was facing difficult labor.

CTOnews.com learned that in an internal speech in September this year, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun revealed that Xiaomi's first engineering vehicle has been officially offline.

On the afternoon of March 30,2021, Xiaomi Group officially announced the approval of intelligent electric vehicle business project establishment, and plans to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary responsible for intelligent electric vehicle business, with an initial investment of RMB 10 billion yuan and an estimated investment of USD 10 billion in the next 10 years. Lei Jun will also serve as CEO of intelligent electric vehicle business. The new car is expected to be officially mass-produced in the first half of 2024.

Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee signed a cooperation agreement with Xiaomi on November 27 last year, officially announcing that Xiaomi Automobile will settle in Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone.

In addition, Xiaomi Auto was registered in Beijing on September 1 last year, and the first factory will be located in Beijing. Xiaomi Automobile will build a complete vehicle factory in Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone in two phases. The accumulated annual output of the factory is expected to be 300,000 vehicles, and the production capacity of Phase I and Phase II is 150,000 vehicles.

So far, it has been revealed that Xiaomi has finalized the main power battery suppliers for Ningde Times and BYD's Fudi battery, while the lidar will use Hesai Technology, Xiaomi car team self-developed autonomous driving technology, is currently carrying out software integration, and this upcoming car pricing ceiling is expected to be higher than 300,000 yuan.

Lei Jun said that Xiaomi's autonomous driving technology has entered the testing stage. The first phase plans 140 test vehicles, which will be tested nationwide for six consecutive years, with the goal of entering the first camp in the industry by 2024.
