CTOnews.com October 19 news, today, Canalys released a report that in the third quarter of 2022, the global smartphone market suffered a third consecutive quarter of decline, down 9% year-on-year. This quarter was the worst since 2014.

Among them, Samsung reduced channel inventory by vigorously carrying out promotional activities, with a market share of 22%, leading the market. Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo have global market shares of 14%, 10% and 9% respectively.

Apple was the only one of the top five vendors to achieve positive year-on-year growth in the quarter, further improving its market position with an 18% share during the downturn due to relatively resilient demand for iPhones, the report said.

CTOnews.com understands that Canalys said that at present, there is still no sign of improvement in market demand through the fourth quarter of this year and the first half of 2023. Compared with last year's peak season, holiday sales performance in the fourth quarter of 2022 is expected to be slow but stable. However, it is too early to see the upcoming fourth quarter as a real turning point in the market recovery.
