CTOnews.com, Oct. 19, the first generation of Apple TV 4K was released as early as 2017, but Apple has retained the fourth generation of Apple TV, also known as Apple TV HD, in its product line. However, with the release of the new generation of Apple TV 4K, Apple has stopped selling the Apple TV HD and the company's official stores no longer sell it.

The fourth-generation Apple TV, launched in 2015, was the first model to run tvOS, a fully iOS-based operating system and the first model to introduce App Store with third-party applications to Apple TV, equipped with an A8 chip and 2GB memory.

In addition to the tvOS, one of the highlights of the fourth-generation Apple TV compared to the old Apple TV is the Siri remote control, which is equipped with a touchpad and a motion sensor. When the Apple TV was launched, the 32GB version started at $149, or about 1073 yuan. Even with the release of two generations of new Apple TV,Apple TV HD, it is still sold in the product line at a price of $149.00.

In 2017, Apple announced the launch of the first Apple TV that supports 4K HDR content, with the A10X Fusion chip. Then in 2021, the model was replaced by the Apple TV 4K with an A12 bionic chip and a redesigned Siri remote control. Interestingly, Apple TV HD updated the new Siri remote control last year.

CTOnews.com learned that the new 2022 Apple TV 4K is equipped with an A15 bionic chip, which is 50 per cent faster than the A12 chip. Equipped with Siri remote control, equipped with USB-C charging port, cancel the Lightning port. Apple doubled its storage capacity to 64GB and 128GB and reduced its starting price to $129. As a result, the company stopped producing all other Apple TV.

Currently, Apple is still providing software updates for the fourth-generation and later Apple TV, as all subsequent models run tvOS 16.
