Smartphone cameras are improving all the time, and many people see it as the only way to capture important life photos and videos. As a result, the company has been looking to improve the camera performance of mobile phones.

In December, one Canada held a so-called "ear-opening forum" with smartphone photographers at various skill levels. These people include novices and experts who use mobile phone cameras. All participants made suggestions on how to improve their smartphone cameras. Today, the company revealed these challenges and the challenges it will face.

One plus plans to improve camera performance in many aspects. The company said that white balance consistency and skin color improvement are the main priorities, and future software updates will improve the latter two.

Auto-focus hardware and software upgrades planned for 2020 are also coming. One plus also promises to provide 4K super stability for "some of its future devices". Another major goal of OnePlus in 2020 is to have a faster camera, which the company says will continue to improve with future updates.

Exposure / color / white balance offset and consistency for all cameras.

To adjust all cameras to the same exposure, white balance is our top priority and main goal.

Auto focus consistency.

We cannot reproduce the problems reported by OEF participants in the lab, but we will upgrade AF hardware and software in 2020.

Consistency of skin color

Improving skin color is one of our top priorities. It will be improved through future system updates.

Sharpness: sharpness needs to be improved in all cases.

We are trying to find a new balance between clarity and noise.

Super stable: support 4K recording, reduce noise and improve low light quality.

There are hardware limitations, but some of our future devices will support 4K super stability.

Dynamic range: the body is illuminated, but the background is too dark.

We have been working on video HDR, which will solve these dynamic range problems.

The lights are flickering.

We have heard a lot of feedback about this problem, and we are working on solutions to eliminate flicker to reduce the problem.

Follow-up shooting is not smooth: improve the stability and fluency of follow-up shooting.

So far, we haven't been able to reproduce the problem in the lab, but fluency and video are part of our main improvements in 2020.

A faster camera.

Similarly, this is one of our main goals for 2020. Faster shutters require updating systems, applications, and animations. Future updates will continue to improve it.

Equivalent lens function: all three shots should support 1080p and 4K, and you are allowed to switch shots during recording.

This is due to the hardware limitations of current devices, but we are exploring ways to make future devices possible.

Limit the length of 4K records.

Considering the overall performance and temperature, we will not change the current limit, but we will continue to strive to optimize this limit in the future.

One-handed use: it is difficult to reach the functional top bar; one-hand zoom

This is very important feedback for us, and we are already discussing the solution with the design team.

Video editing

We plan to completely update the video tools for the gallery application, so we will support many of the features needed during OEF. We will have news about the color rating or LUT options soon.

Professional video mode

Professional video mode will have a backlog because our top priority is to improve the default video quality and comprehensive experience.

Depth of field (optical) for remote video recording.

We have been working on this feature, and the current quality is not up to our published standard.

Amplification delay

We have some similar ideas about delays, which are already in our future product plans.

Record the video in reverse.

There are very few scenes, so we have a backlog. Our main focus on video is the basic quality and user experience of all users.

The night mode of the night video.

This is something we think is very interesting, and we have studied and worked on it.

AR emoji and sticker recordings.

We haven't found AR's killer scene in the video yet. Some third-party applications provide interesting tagging capabilities, so this is not a current priority.

Social media model: direct access to Twitter, reduce the proportion of Instagram, etc.

We believe that image quality in third-party applications is very important and has a higher priority. We have been working hard, and these functions are planned after the picture quality has been improved.

Light color painting mode

Due to the narrow user scene, we decided not to follow the lighting painting effect.

Two cameras record at the same time: wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle; front and back.

This feature is currently supported by platforms and cameras, but we are looking for user scenarios to take full advantage of this feature.
