A developer created a project on GitHub called "Windows95" for short, bringing Windows 95 to life with the help of the Electron framework, available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Now, version 3.1.1 of the app has been released, bringing some significant changes. This is because the underlying Electron framework got a big update. CTOnews.com has learned that the app now supports the latest Chromium 106.

Here are the updates:

Upgrade from Electron v18 to Electron v21 (and Chrome and Node.js with it)

Upgrade to v86 (voice back).

Electron 21.0.0 also adds support for "immersive dark mode on Windows," which will help set the dark title bar according to system preferences. Other features include support for networking Bluetooth pairing, support for the V8 JavaScript engine, and more.
