CTOnews.com, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) Microsoft announced on Monday that it is adding spelling error protection to its Microsoft Defender SmartScreen service to help prevent web traps such as domain name phishing.

Microsoft pointed out that if users happen to have typos in the domain name of the site they are trying to enter, they may open an advertising site, a fake product site, a fake search engine site, or even a phishing site.

Now if a user enters a misspelled URL in the URL bar of an Edge browser, a warning page will appear to remind the user, and the user can choose to visit the suggested website given by Microsoft, or confirm that the URL entered is correct and continue to visit the site.

CTOnews.com learned that Microsoft has worked with the Bing Indexing team to identify new spelling errors and their web pages as soon as they appear, to keep Microsoft Edge browsers up to date.
