CTOnews.com, Oct. 18, according to Business Insider, Microsoft has made company-wide layoffs. Sources said that nearly 1000 jobs were affected this week. The scope covers departments such as Xbox, strategic tasks and technical organizations.

In July, Microsoft said it planned to cut less than 1% of its 180000 employees and slashed hiring because of the risk of recession.

In addition, Axios confirmed that Microsoft announced layoffs in several departments on Monday. Layoffs involve different levels, teams and different parts of the world. The move is another example of layoffs at big technology companies earlier after slowing or freezing hiring as the broader economy cooled.

Several laid-off employees shared the news of their layoffs on online forums such as Twitter and Blind.

Almost all major technology companies have slowed employee growth, and many have frozen all necessary hiring. Some companies have begun to lay off staff, including Snap and Flipboard.

Meta, which has frozen hiring, plans to cut most departments' budgets and is expected to make layoffs.

CTOnews.com learned that Microsoft said in a statement: "like all companies, we regularly evaluate business experts and make structural adjustments accordingly. We will continue to invest in the business and recruit in key growth areas in the coming year."
