Phoenix New Media, Oct. 18 (Beijing time)-analyst firm CCS Insight said on Tuesday that Apple may launch an iPad with a collapsible screen in 2024, and expects the tech giant to start experimenting with foldable technology soon.

CCS Insight released its annual forecast on Tuesday, predicting future products and trends. The company said Apple would launch a collapsible iPad within two years, rather than being the first to launch a collapsible iPhone. This is different from the practice of other companies, mobile phone manufacturers such as Samsung are the first to launch foldable phones.

"right now, it doesn't make any sense for Apple to produce a collapsible iPhone. We think they will avoid this trend and may try to launch a collapsible iPad," Ben Wood, director of CCS Insight research, said in an interview. "for Apple, the risk of a collapsible iPhone is extremely high. First of all, it has to be very expensive in order not to erode sales of existing iPhone models."

Wood said that the price of a foldable iPhone is likely to be around $2500 (about 18075 yuan). By comparison, Apple's most expensive iPhone 14 Pro Max costs about $1599 (about 11561 yuan). He also said that if there are any technical problems with Apple's foldable phones, then critics will attack Apple "crazily" because of these problems.
