CTOnews.com, October 17 (Xinhua) Swedish telecom equipment manufacturer Ericsson said on Monday that it has signed a long-term 5G Strategic Independence (SA) network deployment agreement with India Telecom (Reliance Jio Infocomm).

This is the first cooperation between Jio and Ericsson in the deployment of the country's radio access network. The telecom market leader has worked with South Korea's Samsung to build a 4G network.

Ericsson said it would deploy its 5G Wireless access Network (RAN) products and solutions, as well as E-band microwave mobile transmission solutions, for Jio's fifth generation network.

In addition to Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung, Jio is said to be working with Cisco, an American network equipment maker, to develop its 5G network.

The telecom company has launched "True 5G" testing services in four cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta and Varanasi. Jio's goal is to provide 5G to every town, autonomous community, district, etc., by December 2023.

CTOnews.com learned that Ookla analysis shows that the 5G performance of Jio depends on the spectrum band it uses. The performance of the C-band (nasty 78) is between the median download speed of 606.53Mbps and 875.26Mbps. The 5G network, which uses the 700MHz band (nasty 28), provides a lower median download speed than 100Mbps, ranging between 78.69Mbps and 95.13Mbps.
