Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, October 17, the Times reported on the 15th that BMW Group intends to stop producing MINI electric models at its plant in Oxford, England, and will transfer the production line to China by the end of next year.

According to China Business report, BMW China said on October 16 that it would suspend production of electric cars at its Oxford plant, but would not stop production of MINI models, and made it clear that the beam car, which is working with Great Wall Motor, would produce an all-electric MINI. However, BMW China did not respond to whether the MINI electric car would be made only in China.

Beam Automobile is a previous joint venture between BMW and Great Wall Motors. The total investment of the beam automobile production base project is about 5.1 billion yuan. The construction site is Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province, which is scheduled to be completed in 2022. This is BMW's first pure electric vehicle joint venture worldwide, with a planned production capacity of 160000 vehicles a year. Great Wall has previously said that the cooperation between the two sides is not only at the production level, but also includes joint research and development of pure electric vehicles in China's new energy vehicle market, where future MINI pure electric vehicles and new Great Wall products are expected to be put into production.

In September this year, the MINI Concept Aceman, MINI's first pure electric urban crossover concept car, was unveiled in Shanghai. In November last year, the MINI brand of BMW Group announced that MINI would produce two pure electric models in China in 2023. Pure electric vehicles are expected to account for 50 per cent of MINI's total global sales by 2027. BMW Group said that the Chinese market is becoming the fastest growing market for MINI in the world, China will become the focus of MINI's global strategy, and MINI pure electric models will be made in the beam car production base.

CTOnews.com learned that according to the strategic plan previously released by the BMW Group, the last fuel car of the BMW MINI will be launched in 2025, and by 2030, all MINI models will be purely electric, when the MINI brand will become the first brand in the BMW Group to achieve all-electric.
