CTOnews.com, October 16, the latest Strategy Analytics report indicates that 5G commercial smartphone shipments will grow at a 20% CAGR (compound annual growth rate) during the forecast period from 2022 to 2027.

Global shipments of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) 5G smartphones will grow by 11.9 per cent and commercial shipments by 80.3 per cent by the end of 2022, the report said. By 2027, B2B 5G smartphones will account for 89% of the entire B2B smartphone market.

According to the data, by the end of March 2022, global sales of 5G smartphones had exceeded 1 billion, and Q1 accounted for 42 per cent of all mobile phone sales in 2022. In the same period, there are about 720 million active 5G users worldwide, accounting for 8 per cent of all subscribers.

CTOnews.com learned that Strategy Analytics had expected global smartphone shipments to fall 7.8% year-on-year to 1.25 billion units in 2022. A modest rebound is expected in the second half of 2023, with annual shipments rebounding to an annual growth rate of 2.7 per cent.
