MacRumors reports that the new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, code-named J617 and J620, will be the first update to the high-end iPad since April 2021 and is expected to feature an M2 chip that offers faster performance and possible new charging features.

In terms of design, the new iPad Pro will be similar to the current model and no major changes are expected. According to previous reports, the new iPad Pro model may also have MagSafe charging and is expected to support reverse wireless charging, allowing users to charge iPhones or AirPods on the back of the iPad.

CTOnews.com understands that Apple is no longer planning to launch new products in October, and is expected to announce new iPad and Mac product lines through press releases and websites. In addition to the new iPad Pro models, Apple is expected to release iPad OS 16 later this month. Unlike previous years, this year's iPad OS and iOS updates weren't released simultaneously. Instead, Apple delayed iPad OS 16 until later in the fall to allow more time to improve updates and Stage Manager.

Recent revelations also indicate that new Mac products will be released in late 2022. While Gurman still thinks Apple will launch a new Mac soon, he said the new product will come later rather than alongside the new iPad. Specifically, the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are expected to be released in the "near future" and are expected to be equipped with M2 series chips, namely M2 Pro and M2 Max. Gurman also mentioned that the M2 Mac mini is in development.
