Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com The Macintosh SE used by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs at NeXT is the highlight of an upcoming technology auction, along with Apple memorabilia and artifacts from science and space history.
Bonhams is holding an auction of the history of science and technology (including space history) featuring a range of documents and objects related to notable events, companies and individuals. A significant number of these lots are about Apple and Steve Jobs.
The highlight is Steve Jobs 'Macintosh SE computer, which he used when he worked at Next after leaving Apple.
The computer was initially installed by Jobs 'assistant between late 1987 and early 1988. Hard drives in the device are said to hold data relating to his work schedule, including to-do lists, recruitment jobs, travel and details of missed meetings with King Charles III (then known as the Prince of Wales).
A listing from Jobs 'office shows that it was moved from NeXT's Palo Alto office to Redwood City, and that the device was still on Jobs' desk when it was used for work in 1993. There is also evidence that Jobs 'daughter Lisa Brennan-Jobs used Macintosh SE during office visits.
The Macintosh was last used for a marketing project in 1994 before being offered to its current owner.
CTOnews.com has learned that the Macintosh SE is valued at between $200,000 and $300,000 on the inventory. It includes a 20MB hard drive, an extra backup drive, a keyboard and a mouse.
The auction also includes a number of other Apple-specific lots, including the Apple II: Ventless Rev 0, valued at $20,000 (about 144,000 yuan) to 30000 US dollars (about 216,000 yuan), and a 1980s Apple Macintosh team Polo shirt is expected to sell for between 1000 US dollars (about 7200 yuan) to 2000 US dollars (about 14400 yuan).
Other Jobs items include a 1995 NeXT earnings report signed by Jobs, thought to be worth between $6000 and $8000, and "personal items from Jobs 'NeXT office," worth between $1000 and $2000. Jobs 'three Pixar cards cost between $2000 and $3000.
There are many other historic lots at auction, including a copy of physicist Sir Isaac Newton's Principles of Optics, signature company shares of Nikola Tesla, and observation glass recovered from the Manhattan Project.
The Bonhams History of Science and Technology, including Space History auction has opened for bids and will culminate in a live auction on October 25.
