According to the Taiwan Electronic Times, market sources said that MediaTek's 6nm and 7nm wafers in TSMC have been reduced because sales of MediaTek's smartphone AP are not satisfactory and order cuts are likely to continue into the first half of next year.

CTOnews.com learned that MediaTek launched the Tianji 1080 mobile platform on October 11. It is reported that the mobile platform uses TSMC's 6nm process. MediaTek said: "the Tianji 1080 continues the performance and energy efficiency advantages of the MediaTek Tianji 5G mobile platform, providing a variety of advanced features to better meet users' expectations for 5G smartphones. MediaTek's latest Tianji 1080 further enhances the performance in terms of performance, imaging, display and other aspects, helping terminals quickly launch to the mass market."

Tianji 1080 is designed with an eight-core CPU architecture, including two Arm Cortex-A78 cores with 2.6GHz main frequency, a MediaTek Imagiq ISP image processor that supports up to 200 megapixel camera, and a MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 game engine that provides players with a high-performance, low-latency gaming experience.

It is worth mentioning that in July this year, MediaTek announced a strategic partnership with Intel to make chips using the advanced process of Intel Wafer foundry Services (Intel Foundry Services,IFS).
