CTOnews.com, October 14 (Xinhua)-- Activision announced in a blog post that call of Duty: modern Warfare Ⅱ is limited to the PC platform, not the host platform.

Activision said that playing call of Duty: modern Warfare II on PC requires a mobile number, and players who have verified their accounts with the existing call of Duty: theater will not need to bind.

CTOnews.com learned that this means that call of Duty: modern Warfare II and call of Duty: theater 2.0 continue the previous SMS requirements, and call of Duty: theater, which was launched on PC in May 2020, already requires cell phone numbers.

Activision said SMS verification is crucial to their anti-cheating work and can solve the problem of illegal account creation from the source in order to provide a safe, fair and interesting gaming experience for all players. Activision promises that call of Duty will not use SMS verification data for marketing purposes.

Previously, Activision Blizzard's "Watch Vanguard"return" at the beginning of the launch required all players to bind mobile phone numbers to play, but as a large number of players found that "some prepaid" numbers could not be used, caused a lot of protests. Blizzard cancelled the SMS security protection mechanism, and old players no longer need to provide mobile phone numbers when playing.
