According to industry insiders, Tesla delayed the production of batteries at his German factory not because of US tax incentives or because of energy costs, but because of a critical and highly complex production technology with significant delays.

Initially, Tesla planned to carry out complete battery production at the Gruenheide plant in Germany. But now, the factory only focuses on the research of electrodes, while the equipment for producing other parts will be transferred to the Texas plant.

This does not mean that Tesla will give up producing batteries in his German factory, according to people familiar with the matter. On the contrary, in the long run, Tesla will continue to focus on producing batteries in German factories.

In fact, Tesla also said last month that he would continue his battery production plan in Germany, only because of the preferential tax policy in the United States, Tesla currently gives priority to producing batteries in the United States.

According to previous reports, Tesla plans to produce a better new battery 4680 in a German battery factory, with five times higher energy density, six times higher power, less space and less energy consumption.
