CTOnews.com, October 14, according to CCTV news, the world's first ultra-high altitude photovoltaic demonstration base-Xingchuan Photovoltaic Power Station in Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, has been officially put into production.

The project is located in Dinggong Prairie, Zhengdou Township, Xiangcheng County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, covering an area of about 13650 mu, with a total installed capacity of 600000 kilowatts, with an average annual generation capacity of about 1.268 billion kilowatt hours, equivalent to about 390000 tons of standard coal per year. It is currently the largest photovoltaic power generation project in Sichuan Province.

CTOnews.com learned that the project was launched on December 14, 2021, with an average elevation of about 4000 meters (3500-5500 meters is ultra-high altitude). Ganzi Prefecture is very rich in solar energy resources, and the sunshine hours in most areas are more than 2000 hours all the year round. It is the most abundant solar energy area in Sichuan Province, and it is also one of the high solar energy areas in the country.

The demonstration base will conduct empirical experiments on hundreds of photovoltaic technology combinations, in addition to carrying out empirical studies on the innovative applications of a variety of photovoltaic equipment, photovoltaic technology route energy storage devices and new technologies such as big data and the Internet of things in the field of new energy at ultra-high altitude, it will also study the deep integration of photovoltaic and ecological restoration, focusing on building three types of empirical bases.
