Oct. 14, according to foreign media reports, FCA US, a subsidiary of automaker Stellantis, will pay a fine of $5.6 million (about 40.152 million yuan) to resolve California's investigation into the company's air quality violations.

The California Air Resources Commission (CARB) said the 30600 cars involved in the settlement included the 2012-2018 Ram 1500, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango, which were equipped with 5.7L gasoline engines and did not meet certified emission standards.

Stellantis is formed by the merger of Fiat Chrysler (FCA) and Peugeot Citroen (PSA), with FCA and PSA each holding 50 per cent of the combined company.

Stellantis aims to sell all its passenger cars in Europe and 50 per cent of its passenger cars and light trucks in the US by 2030. The company plans to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2038 and reduce carbon emissions by 50% from 2021 levels by 2030.

Stellantis recently announced that it has signed a preliminary non-binding agreement with Australian miner GME Resources to obtain raw materials such as nickel and cobalt sulfate from GME Resources for electric vehicle battery production.

In addition to GME Resources, Stellantis has reached an important agreement with lithium producer Vulcan Energy to ensure the supply of lithium.
