CTOnews.com, October 14, today, Unit 12 of Baihetan Hydropower Station successfully passed 72 hours of trial operation and was officially put into commercial operation. This is the 13th million kilowatt hydrogenerator unit that Baihetan Hydropower Station has put into operation.

Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River at the junction of Ningnan County, Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province. it is the largest and most technically difficult hydropower project under construction in the world. A total of 16 hydroelectric generating units with the largest unit capacity of one million kilowatts in the world and independently developed in China have been installed, with a total installed capacity of 1600 million kilowatts.

CTOnews.com learned that among the generating units of Baihetan Hydropower Station, Units 1 to 8 are located on the left bank, while Units 9 to 16 are located on the right bank. Unit 12, which was put into operation, began grid-connected commissioning on October 5, and all established commissioning projects were successfully completed and put into operation on October 14.

After the Baihetan Hydropower Station is completed and put into operation, it can meet the electricity needs of about 75 million people for a year. At present, the 13 million kilowatt units that have been put into operation of Baihetan Hydropower Station have produced a total of more than 46 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity.

In addition, after the Baihetan Hydropower Station is fully put into operation, the three Gorges Group will complete and put into operation 110 hydropower units in the mainstream of the Yangtze River, with a total installed capacity of 71.695 million kilowatts. It also forms the world's largest clean energy corridor with six power stations, including Wudong Germany, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, three Gorges and Gezhouba.
