Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

On the morning of October 14, Beijing time, it was reported that Activision Blizzard employees had been protesting over the company's failure to properly handle persistent sexual harassment allegations for more than a year. Now, Activision Blizzard has an anonymous employee who filed a sexual harassment, gender discrimination and sexual violence lawsuit against the company.

"over the years, Activision Blizzard's open 'fraternity' environment has contributed to rampant sexism and sexual harassment, reporting a total of 700 such incidents under the leadership of CEO Robert Robert Kotick." "such gender-related misconduct is often committed by executives with the knowledge of the human resources department," the lawsuit explained. " Last year, it was reported that Kodick had been aware of the rampant sexual harassment within the company for years, but was indifferent to it.

In this case, the plaintiff accused Activision Blizzard's former product manager Miguel Vega of sexually harassing him for years on the job. She said Vig caressed, kissed and verbally insulted her at work without her consent. Vig even hinted that she could get a raise if she succumbed to his sexual flirtation.

The plaintiff first met Vig at a game night event in 2009 or 2010. "they quickly established a virtual friendship, and she regretfully sent him her indecent photos," the indictment said. " In 2011, the plaintiff met her future husband and broke up with Vig, but she reestablished contact with Activision Blizzard when she applied for a job before 2016.

The plaintiff told an executive manager about Vig's behavior in 2017, but Vig was not punished. He later began threatening the plaintiffs, claiming to expose intimate photos from more than 10 years ago. In August 2021, a month after California regulators sued Activision for sexual harassment and gender discrimination, plaintiffs once again raised their concerns with the company's human resources department.

"on August 23, 2021, despite Vig's threat to retaliate with indecent photos, the plaintiff plucked up the courage to report Vig's sexual harassment to her manager, Christopher Bruens. Burrows handed over her report to the human resources department. Soon, Vig left the plaintiff a voicemail in an attempt to mitigate the harm he had caused. Activision Blizzard fired Vig on September 1, 2021." The indictment says.

Now, the plaintiffs hope to take legal action to hold Activision Blizzard responsible for such poor working conditions and inaction to protect employees from sexual harassment. She asked Activision Blizzard to provide compensation and pay medical fees, legal fees and loss of income.

Lisa Bloom, the plaintiff's lawyer, tweeted that her firm represented eight women who claimed to have been sexually harassed at Activision Blizzard.

A spokesman for Activision Blizzard responded: "We attach great importance to the concerns of every employee. When the plaintiff raised her concerns, we immediately launched an investigation. Vig was fired within 10 days. We will not tolerate such misconduct."

Microsoft plans to buy Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion and is awaiting regulatory approval. If the deal goes through, Mr Kodick could step down as CEO.
