The tablet can withstand a drop of 4 feet, can be used in temperatures ranging from minus 28 degrees Celsius to minus 62 degrees Celsius, and is IP65 waterproof and dustproof. Dell calls it "the lightest and most powerful 12-inch fully rugged tablet on the market" and weighs 2.78lb (about 1.262 kg).

There are also some major upgrades to the Dell Latitude 7230 Rugged Extreme configuration. After all, it has been several years since the previous generation of models were released, which come with a 12th-generation Intel Core processor (the previous model uses an eighth-generation processor), LPDDR5 memory up to 32GB and SSD storage for 2TB.

In addition, the Dell Latitude 7230 Rugged Extreme is equipped with dual hot-swappable batteries, one of which can be removed and replaced during use, so it will never be turned off because the battery is low, and the dual battery can last for 20 hours after charging.

The display has also been significantly upgraded, from an aspect ratio of 16:9 to a higher 16:10, a higher brightness of 1200 nits, and good outdoor visibility that can even be used in gloves. There is also a 5-megapixel front camera that supports Windows Hello, and an upgraded 1100-megapixel camera on the back that provides a flash for use in dark environments.

Part of the tablet's appeal is its high degree of configurability, with a basic set of ports, including two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB Type-A, a headphone Jack, a microSD card reader, and a nano SIM card slot. However, the ports can also be extended, with USB Type-An and HDMI port extensions on the right, RJ45 Ethernet, Mini-serial RS-232 and barcode scanners at the top, and these expansion ports are interchangeable, as well as an optional smart card reader.

In terms of wireless connectivity, the tablet supports Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.2, with optional cellular connectivity. You can choose the Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 LTE modem, or upgrade to the Snapdragon X55 modem to support 5G, which also supports FirstNet Ready and gives priority access to emergency services.

Dell has also introduced a range of related accessories, including a removable keyboard, a rotatable bracelet and a magnetic bracket that allows users to customize the experience according to their specific needs.
