CTOnews.com has reported that on June 16 this year, Honda announced a formal agreement with Sony Group to form a joint venture Sony Honda Mobility, which will sell "high value-added" electric vehicles and provide travel services. Meanwhile, Sony President Kenichiro Yoshida revealed that the new car will use the technology on PS5.

Sony and Honda will each have a 50 per cent stake, totaling 10 billion yen. Teixiu Mizuno, a former Honda China minister, will be chairman and CEO of the joint venture, while Sony Mobile President and CEO Kawanishi will be president and COO of the joint venture.

It is reported that the joint venture will start selling its products in 2025. In addition, the company's electric vehicles will be produced at Honda's North American plant and will mainly procure raw materials in North America.

The two sides will use Honda's years of car-building experience as well as Sony's experience in technology and entertainment to build its first product, which Sony believes will also increase the demand for entertainment in an era of growing autonomous driving technology.

The new company aims to combine Honda's cutting-edge environmental and security technology, mobile development capabilities, body manufacturing technology and after-sales service management experience with Sony in imaging, sensing, telecommunications, networking and entertainment technology. to achieve a new generation of mobile and mobile services that are closely integrated with users and the environment.

Honda had set long-term goals for itself, such as increasing sales of new energy vehicles to 40% of global annual deliveries by the end of the 1920s. By 2035, the percentage is expected to grow to 80%, and then stop using internal combustion engines altogether by 2040.

To achieve this, Honda will launch a new dedicated electric platform, called e:Architecture, which will be launched on a range of US cars before entering other markets.
