CTOnews.com, Oct. 13, Samsung announced that it is expanding its partnership with Google to make smart homes more interoperable. The plan will allow Samsung Galaxy phone and tablet users to use Matter-compatible smart home devices on SmartThings and Google Home, giving users more choice over how they control and buy the device.

According to Samsung, if users have been using Google Home and have devices connected, and there are devices connected to the SmartThings, users can now import all their devices into two applications, using only one of them. Google recently announced a Google Home update that will bring Matter support-which will arrive later this year.

Matthew McCullough, vice president of product management for Google Android developers, said

"with the launch of Matter, we know that there will be new expectations for smart home connectivity. We are proud to work with Samsung Electronics to provide new and existing smart home users with their exploration of the appearance of the future smart home and the ease of use that comes with it."

CTOnews.com has been informed that the Matter smart home standard will enter most major smart home products to achieve cross-brand interoperability.

In October, the Connectivity Standards Alliance and its members, including Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung and other smart home manufacturers, announced the launch of the Matter 1.0 standard for smart home accessories.
