Tom Henderson, a well-known gaming insider, posted a report on his website Insider Gaming, saying that Sony aims to ship 30 million PS5 consoles between now and March 2024. Of the estimated 30 million units, Insider Games said Sony believes it will sell 18 million at the same time. According to a recent report, Sony's PS5 shipments have soared by nearly 400% since the same period last year.

Sony seems confident that the problems that have plagued PS5 supply are coming to an end. Although it has not been officially announced, Sony is expected to start selling a version of the PS5 removable CD-ROM drive, but it will not go into production until the middle of next year. Prior to that, Sony will produce CD-ROM PS5 and digital PS5, and then it is expected that Sony may phase out CD-ROM PS5 and sell only digital PS5 and removable CD-ROM drive PS5.

Although it was released only two years ago, Sony has updated its recently discovered PS5 model in Australia. The Insider Gaming report also points out that 12 million of the 30 million units shipped will be "old PS5". The new "PS5 will not change its appearance" is expected to be lighter than the first generation. Because the two models of PS5 are mixed, potential buyers of PS5 who want the freshest models need to be careful to distinguish between SKU codes.
