CTOnews.com October 12 news, According to CCTV news report, October 9, Anhui Jinzhai pumped storage power station (hereinafter referred to as "Jinzhai power station") The first batch of two units officially put into operation power generation.

Jinzhai Hydropower Station is located in Jinzhai County, Lu 'an City, Anhui Province, with a total investment of about 7.5 billion yuan and a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts. Four mixed-flow reversible pumped storage units with a unit capacity of 300,000 kilowatts are installed. The designed annual power generation capacity is 2.01 billion kilowatt hours and the annual pumped electricity capacity is 2.68 billion kilowatts hours. It is connected to Anhui power grid with 500 kV outgoing line.

CTOnews.com understands that pumped storage power stations can utilize the natural drop between the upper and lower reservoirs according to the peak-valley law of power use. When the power load is low, water can be pumped from the lower reservoir to the upper reservoir by electricity, which can be effectively stored as potential energy. At the peak of power consumption, the stored potential energy can be converted into the electric energy required by users.

Jinzhai hydropower station hinge project mainly consists of upper reservoir, water transmission system, underground powerhouse system, ground switch station and lower reservoir. The power station was started in June 2015 and all units are planned to be put into operation by 2023.

After Jinzhai Power Station is fully completed and put into operation, it can save about 120,000 tons of standard coal, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 240,000 tons, and reduce nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide by about 22,000 tons every year.
