Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, Oct. 12, Apple has not provided sales figures for the iPhone, Mac and iPad in the past few years, and analysts, customers and investors have no idea about the exact number of devices sold. So analysts try to estimate shipments of these products, but judging from their estimates of Mac sales in the third quarter, these figures don't seem to be very accurate.

Organizations such as Gartner, IDC and Canalys don't seem to know how many Mac Apple has sold because they give very different figures for shipments in the third quarter.

IDC estimates that apple sold 10 million Mac units in the quarter, up 40.2% from 7 million in the same period last year. However, Gartner thinks Apple sold only 5.8 million Mac units, down 15.6% from 6.9 million in the same period last year.

There is a difference in shipments of 4.3 million Mac between IDC and Gartner figures, which highlights how unreliable these shipping estimates are. The figure given by Canalys is somewhere in the middle of the two estimates, putting Apple's Mac shipments at 8 million last quarter, up 1.7 per cent from 7.9 million in the same period last year.

There were also differences between previous estimates provided by IDC, Gartner and Canalys, but not to that extent. Apple will provide more data on its third calendar quarter (fiscal fourth quarter) revenue during its earnings call on October 27, which should give the outside world some idea of Mac sales.

CTOnews.com learned that Apple introduced new M2 MacBook Air and M2 MacBook Pro this quarter, but the new phones are also facing some shipping delays due to supply chain problems.
