Beijing time on October 12 morning news, Meta and Microsoft reached a new cooperation, it will Microsoft Windows App, Teams and other products and Meta universe hardware integration.

At Connect, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed that Teams will integrate with Quest devices, and Microsoft will provide technology to enable Windows apps to stream to Meta helmets. Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming services will also be available on Quest devices in the coming months.

Horizon Workrooms, Meta's metacentric experience, will connect with Teams, allowing users to participate directly in Teams meetings through Workrooms.

As for Windows, Microsoft 365 will interface with Quest, allowing users to edit content through Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Note that these apps aren't full Microsoft apps designed for VR, they're "Progressive Web Apps" at best.

Take a look at Xbox Cloud Gaming, which projects streaming games onto 2D VR screens, supporting existing Xbox consoles, and Nadella hints at more features to come.

Microsoft has also been interested in VR / AR before, but recently it seems that interest has waned. Windows Mixed Reality, which Microsoft worked so hard to build, didn't take off as expected. Earlier this year, it was reported that Microsoft had cut three generations of HoloLens and instead worked with Samsung to develop new MR devices. Of course, this claim was refuted by Microsoft.
