BYD, which already sells electric buses and cars to companies in India, officially entered the passenger car market today. Currently, BYD ATTO 3 has opened a reservation of 50000 Indian rupees (about 4345 yuan) in India, has not yet announced the official price, and promised that the first batch of 500 vehicles will be delivered from January 2023.

"We plan to sell 15000 BYD ATTO 3 vehicles in India next year and plan to build a manufacturing plant there in due course," Ketsu Zhang, senior vice president of ▲ BYD India Electric passenger cars, said in a statement. BYD has invested more than $200m (about 1.428 billion yuan) in India, he added.

CTOnews.com has learned that BYD is expanding massively around the world, entering markets such as Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Brazil, Costa Rica and Colombia. Earlier this year, BYD also announced that it would start selling passenger cars in Japan from 2023 and plans to build a factory in Thailand to produce 150000 cars a year from 2024.

Ketsu Zhang said BYD has two manufacturing plants in India, covering an area of more than 140000 square meters and employing more than 3000 people. According to Reuters, a source familiar with the company's plans said there was no need to introduce new investment in assembling and selling ATTO 3.
