CTOnews.com October 11 news, according to Jiangsu Deep Blue Aerospace Co., Ltd., September 29, 2022, deep blue aerospace liquid oxygen kerosene engine "Thunder-R1" the first "second start" test was a complete success, the first start engine worked for 20 seconds, the second start engine worked for 5 seconds.

▲ deep blue aerospace "Thunder-R1" engine completed the "first" second start test on September 29, 2022. On October 8, the same engine carried out a second start test again without stepping down. The first start engine worked for 20s and the second start engine worked for 20s. It was a complete success again, indicating that the "Thunder-R" 1 engine has the ability to be reused. It provides a technical guarantee for the orbit, recovery and reuse of the Nebula-1 rocket.

The second starting test data of ▲ deep blue aerospace liquid oxygen kerosene engine "Thunder-R1" completed again on October 8, 2022 show that the engine works stably and the test parameters are stable in the ignition phase and shutdown phase of the two startups. After the completion of the test, the engine is in good condition.

CTOnews.com learned that the engine secondary starting technology refers to the sum of various measures taken to ensure the normal ignition and starting of the engine in the air during the recovery flight. " The Thunder-R1 "liquid oxygen kerosene engine has the ability of multiple ignition at the beginning of the design. This test run verifies the correctness and rationality of the multiple ignition design scheme. It also marks the first breakthrough in China to master the multiple starting technology of the gas generator cycle liquid oxygen kerosene engine.

Deep Blue Aerospace said that the breakthrough in the secondary starting technology of the "Thunder-R1" engine has laid a solid foundation for the vertical landing of the first deep blue space recoverable carrier rocket "Nebula 1". In the future, the Thunder-R1 thrust will reach the order of 35-40 tons, and Deep Blue Aerospace will also quickly carry out normal test runs and technical iterations of the engine to ensure the smooth implementation of the high-altitude vertical take-off and landing experiment of the "Nebula 1" rocket in 2023.

The 20-ton Thunder-R1 engine of Deep Blue Aerospace has been successfully tested and will be used in the recoverable carrier rocket Nebula 1.
