CTOnews.com, October 11 (Xinhua)-- Electric vehicle battery startup StoreDot has announced that its extremely fast charging (extreme fast charging,XFC) battery unit has achieved 1000 charging cycles on mass-produced electric vehicles.

StoreDot said its XFC electric car battery unit could charge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just 10 minutes and then discharge for an hour before recharging. After more than 1000 such continuous extreme charge-discharge cycles, the battery capacity was reduced to less than 80 per cent of its original capacity. In the first 600 cycles, the battery was charged continuously and rapidly between 10-80% without significant degradation. StoreDot said it hopes to achieve further improvements by the end of 2022.

Doron Myersdorf, CEO of StoreDot, said: "We have achieved the goal we have reached with most OEM manufacturers, assuming a 500km battery life per cycle, the manufacturer can provide a 500000 km battery warranty."

StoreDot is shipping 300Wh/kg and 700Wh / l high-energy-density batteries, also known as "100in5" batteries, to its global automotive OEM partners for testing. These batteries allow drivers to run 100miles (about 160.93 kilometers) every five minutes of charging.

CTOnews.com learned that in March this year, the Israeli company shipped its mass-produced battery sheets to its strategic electric vehicle OEM partners and potential customers. The company also announced that its extremely fast rechargeable battery prototype has achieved 1200 cycles.

In early September 2021, StoreDot announced that it had produced the first fast-charging 4680 cylindrical battery. In November 2021, the company claimed to be the first company to produce XFC batteries for electric vehicles on a large-scale production line.

StoreDot is currently working with Chinese manufacturing partner Yiwei LiNeng 2 to prepare for the mass production of its "100in5" battery and says it aims to start mass production by 2024.
