CTOnews.com learned that relevant documents show that the existing plant of Shanghai BYD Co., Ltd. is located in Songjiang District, Shanghai, and is mainly engaged in the manufacture of electronic components such as lithium batteries and solar battery modules, as well as the processing of non-ferrous metal composites and new alloy materials. BYD will use the A5 plant to add double flanging and coding processes for new lithium battery products. After the completion of the project, it is expected to be able to handle 72 million new lithium batteries per year, and the output of new lithium battery products will remain unchanged. After the expansion of the project, the number of employees and the working system remain unchanged, with 3 shifts of 8 hours per shift and 300 days of annual working time.

Compared with YD's expansion project, some public opinion interprets it as BYD's increase in power battery capacity. However, according to the time Finance report, BYD insiders said that Shanghai BYD's batteries are mainly supplied to 3C categories, and the batteries are mainly supplied to Lenovo, Samsung, Apple and so on, of which Lenovo and Samsung account for more. At present, the plant also has a new production line to do steel shell laminated high-end battery project, or related to the above expansion project. Today, Wang Tao (a pseudonym), the person in charge of BYD, revealed that the transformation of the aforementioned production line is mainly in the process of some changes, in order to supply Apple, because their requirements are relatively strict. Wang Tao also said that BYD not only supplies batteries to Apple tablets, but also headphones, mice and other products, so far the cooperation between the two sides is good.

It is reported that at present, Apple's battery suppliers are mainly ATL and LG, while Apple's Mac computer battery suppliers are mainly ATL and Zhuhai Guanyu, while iPad's battery suppliers include BYD Freddy batteries.
