According to the latest court documents released on October 10, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey made a mockery of Facebook in a text message with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, calling it "a swamp of despair".

The text message between Mr Dorsey and Mr Musk was made public as part of Twitter's pre-trial evidence collection of Mr Musk's default lawsuit, showing the Silicon Valley executive's private attitude towards social networking competitors. Dorsey wrote in an April 6 text message:

"there seems to be a 'verified' account in the swamp of despair."

In Dorsey's text message, the former Twitter chief executive shared a link with a screenshot of a verified Facebook account with Musk's name on it, and he appeared to be buying Twitter. However, the account does not actually seem to belong to Musk. Musk only responded with "".

Dorsey points out that the fake Facebook account also seems to be promoting cryptocurrencies, an issue that Musk has always been critical of in the past. Musk called on Twitter and YouTube to crack down on spam accounts on these platforms that promote cryptocurrency fraud in his name.

Dorsey has publicly mocked or criticized Facebook before. Last year, after Mark Mark Zuckerberg announced that he would become chief executive of Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Dorsey made a joke. At the time, Dorsey responded to the definition of the new name in the dictionary.

"Meta: refers to the essence of the thing itself, self-reference," he wrote on Twitter. He also agreed with a tweet that Zuckerberg's plan for a "meta-universe" could lead to "dystopian corporate dictatorship".

The Twitter co-founder also made fun of Facebook when a security expert shared Facebook domain name system records that were hacked and the site was listed for sale.

The feud between Dorsey and Facebook has a long history. When Dorsey first became CEO of Twitter in 2008, Zuckerberg even offered to buy it for $500 million. The two also discussed the possibility of Dorsey joining Facebook after resigning from Twitter.

In the court documents in which Twitter sued Mr Musk for breach of contract, his legal team said Mr Dorsey told them in his testimony that he had asked Twitter executives to use Signal to avoid using messaging systems tied to Amazon or Meta.

Dorsey also seems to have very mixed feelings when it comes to Twitter itself. Before Musk bought Twitter, Dorsey said in a text message to Musk that Twitter should not have become a company. "that's the original sin," he texted Max.

Dorsey, an old friend of Musk, is very supportive of the billionaire's plan to buy Twitter. On April 5, when Musk first learned that he planned to join the Twitter board, Dorsey texted him, saying he was very happy that Musk was able to do so. "I wanted Musk to buy Twitter a long time ago," he wrote. I was very excited when I learned that this was finally possible. "

Twitter is suing Mr Musk to force the billionaire to continue to buy the company at an agreed price of $44 billion. Last month, Dorsey was arraigned in the trial between Twitter and Musk. The five-day trial is scheduled for October 17 at the Delaware Court of Chancery.

It was one of hundreds of text messages between Mr Musk and the most powerful people in Silicon Valley about the Twitter acquisition, including Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle, and Reid Hoffman, co-founder of professional social networking site LinkedIn.
