Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

According to CTOnews.com on October 10, Tesla successfully took advantage of the ban on direct sales in New Mexico by setting up a sales and service center on tribal land (aboriginal reservations).

In some states of the United States, there is a very old ban requiring car companies to sell electric cars through third-party dealers, which is designed to protect car dealers from being threatened by the supply of car manufacturers. but it is used by current dealers to prevent car companies, such as Tesla, that have never reached cooperation agreements with third-party dealers to sell their cars to the public, even if it is fair competition.

CTOnews.com learned that Tesla's business is not all over the United States, and Tesla has not yet established a formal business relationship in New Mexico.

In 2019, Tesla tried to push for a new law in the state with the help of some lawmakers, but the local car dealers association teamed up to force the other party to give up the idea.

Then Tesla found an interesting loophole. Simply put, they had built their first Tesla store and service center in an old casino in northern Santa Fe, California, and Tesla avoided restrictions by working with the Namb é Pueblo people to build stores.

Interestingly, Tesla seems to be satisfied with this operation, and it has now doubled the use of this loophole and decided to open a new Tesla center in New Mexico.

Tesla will build a factory on tribal land again, this time in cooperation with Santa Ana Pueblo, near Albuquerque, so Tesla is able to move into the city and provide services.

Most ironically, those whose interests were hurt, that is, lawmakers who supported the state's ban on direct sales, applauded Tesla's visit to tribal land to build a new Tesla center.
