CTOnews.com October 10 news, July this year, Hyundai launched its first electric car IONIQ 6 overseas, the new car is based on E-GMP pure electric platform, mainly pure electric mid-size car market. The new car will be launched in Europe in 2022 and in North America in early 2023.

IONIQ 6 will be launched in China during the Expo on November 6, according to E-Car. As a modern all-electric midsize car, Aini Krypton 6 is based on E-GMP all-electric platform, WLTP range 610km.

Hyundai said the IONIQ 6 was 4855 mm long, 2950 mm wheelbase, 0.21 cd drag coefficient, and WLTP range of up to about 610 km, about 30 per cent more than the IONIQ 5 and more than the 602 km range of the Tesla Model 3 long-range version.

Hyundai said the IONIQ 6 will be available in two battery pack options: 53 kilowatt hours (kWh) and 77.4 kWh, and production will begin later this year at its Asan plant in South Korea.

In terms of appearance, the new car adopts the streamlined design concept officially called "Electrified Streamliner," with closed front design, electronic rearview mirror with camera, coupe-style C-pillar design, and strong sporty styling.

In terms of power, Hyundai IONIQ 6 is expected to launch single-motor rear-drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive models, with the strongest version having a power of about 300 hp, a pure electric range of up to 610 km and an energy consumption of about 14 kWh/ 100 km.

IONIQ 6 features a 12-inch full-touch AVNT central control screen and a 12-inch digital dashboard, which can be customized according to user needs and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto car connectivity systems.

According to introduction, the Bluetooth system of the new car supports connecting two mobile phones at the same time, one for making phone calls, the other for playing music, BOSE brand 8 speaker sound system including a subwoofer, ultra-thin seat specially built for pure electric models, providing users with more spacious space, equipped with 4 Type-C interfaces and 1 USB interface.

It is worth mentioning that IONIQ 6 is equipped with modern car SmartSense advanced driver assistance system, with HDA 2 (Highway Driving Assistance Level 2) function, which can control vehicle speed and distance from the preceding vehicle through the cooperation of forward-looking camera and radar sensor and navigation data, while keeping the vehicle in the center of the lane at all times. When the next vehicle is close, the HDA 2 function can help adjust the driving route to avoid accidents, and IONIQ 6 also supports turning on the automatic lane change function of the turn signal.

The IONIQ 6 is one of more than 31 electric models that Hyundai Motor Group (including Hyundai, Kia and premium brand Genesis) plans to launch by 2030 to secure an estimated 12 percent share of the global electric vehicle market.
