CTOnews.com October 10 news, Samsung announced that the company is licensing Tizen OS operating system for third-party TV brands. This means that non-Samsung smart TVs can now use the Tizen OS operating system for the first time. Samsung has partnered with three new ODMs-Atmaca, HKC and Tempo-to produce smart TVs running Tizen OS for various markets.

New smart TVs from brands such as Bauhn, Linsar, Sunny and Vispera will run the Tizen OS operating system in the near future. They will be available in Australia, Italy, new Zealand, Spain, the UK and Turkey starting this year. During the 2021 SDC (Samsung Developers Conference), Samsung first announced plans to license the Tizen OS operating system to other TV brands, and now the first fruits of this plan have been realized.

CTOnews.com has learned that Tizen OS will not only provide an open source operating system for TV brands, but also access all popular audio and video streaming apps, content discovery tools, industry-leading smart features and modern UIs. Samsung has also added more features, including Bixby, Samsung TV Plus and Universal Guide.

LG is also releasing webOS smart TV operating systems for other TV brands such as Blaupunkt, Croma, KMC, Konka, Seiki and Walton. Other competitors to the smart TV platform include Amazon Fire TV, Google Android TV and Roku OS. All of these brands have plans to generate advertising revenue from their smart TV platforms.
