CTOnews.com, October 10 (Xinhua) Bugatti will not launch its first all-electric supercar until after 2030. The brand will focus on hybrid cars throughout the 2020s. In an interview with AutoCar, Achim Anscheidt, Bugatti's design director, said the carmaker was "working on the next hybrid model" and that "everything else is too far away".

The relevant hybrid model may be the successor to the powerful Chiron. It is reported that the car will be launched in 2027 and may cost more than $5 million (about 35.65 million yuan).

Bugatti is now part of a joint venture with electric supercar maker Rimac. As a result, the news that electric Bugatti will not appear for a decade or so may surprise many people. After all, in 2021, Mate Rimac says, there will be a fully electrified Bugatti within this decade. Now, however, this seems unlikely. Frank Heyl, deputy design director of Bugatti, said his team only focused on "hybrids in this decade."

CTOnews.com learned that Bugatti-Rimac was founded in November 2021. The deal was actually a move by Volkswagen to remove Bugatti from its portfolio. However, Volkswagen will retain some ownership through its subsidiary Porsche. Porsche has a 45 per cent stake in the new Bugatti-Rimac business.

Meanwhile, the delivery of Rimac Nevera is in progress. The electric supercar, known as the Concept Two in its prototype phase, has a top speed of 258mph (415.21 km / h) and can go from zero to 60 mph (96.56km / h) in two seconds. The 1914-horsepower Nevera has been in production since July, and the first electric supercar will be delivered to the 2016 F1 world champion Nico Rosberg.
