CTOnews.com, October 10 (Xinhua)-- Construction of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen high-speed railway (Shenjiang high-speed railway) officially began on October 9, according to the official account of China Railway Wechat.

The Shenjiang high-speed railway is an important part of the coastal channel of China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed rail network. The line starts from the newly-built Xili Station in Shenzhen, passes westward through Dongguan City, Guangzhou City, Zhongshan City and Jiangmen City, and is connected to Jiangmen Station of Zhanjiang Railway. The total length of the main line is 116 kilometers, and the construction period is 5.5 years.

Shenzhen Xili, Shenzhen Airport East, Dongguan Binhai Bay, Nansha, Zhongshan North, Henglan and Jiangmen stations are set up on the Shenjiang high-speed railway line, of which Jiangmen Station is an existing station and Shenzhen Xili Station is a new station.

CTOnews.com learned that the Shenzhen Xili-Nansha section of the Shenjiang high-speed railway is designed at 200km / h, and the Nansha-Jiangmen section is designed at 250km / h, accounting for 98 per cent of the total bridge and tunnel.

According to the railway department, the Shenzhen high-speed railway connects Xiamen to Shenzhen in the east and Jiangmen to Zhanjiang in the west. After the completion of the project, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area rail transit network will be further encrypted to greatly facilitate the travel of people along the line.
