CTOnews.com, October 9 (Xinhua)-- according to OverClocking, Asustek has decided to limit the CPU temperature of AMD's new Ryzen 7000 processor.

According to the current tests, despite the high-end heat dissipation scheme, the new generation of flagship processor Ryzen 97950X will still reach a temperature of 90 °C or more in extreme cases, which is difficult for most users.

Asustek said it was preparing to launch a new version of BIOS, introducing a new exclusive feature for the Ryzen 7000 processor on the X670 / B650 motherboard. CTOnews.com has learned that this feature is already available in Asustek ROG Crosshair X670E and ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme.

As shown in the figure below, the new motherboard BIOS has three adjustable positions to limit the processor maximum temperature threshold to 70 ℃, 80 ℃, and 90 ℃.

The following are official Asus charts and their own measurements, covering the temperature and running score changes of the R9 7950X, R9 7900X, R7 7700X and R5 7600X processors.

Similar to the method of reducing voltage and power consumption proposed by up before, temperature restriction directly through BIOS seems to significantly reduce the heating performance without having too much impact on the processor (90 ℃ to 70 ℃ performance loss is about 2.4% to 3.7%).
