CTOnews.com, a later uploaded version of ▲, learned that Yuzu is a free and open source simulator for Nintendo Switch, developed based on C++ and released on January 14, 2018. It is one of two Nintendo Switch simulators 10 months after the release of Nintendo Switch, and the other is Ryujinx.

The simulator was made by developers of Nintendo 3DS simulator Citra. Initially, Yuzu only supported test programs and homemade programs. In a statement to PC Gamer, Yuzu developers said they were interested in potential optimizations of the simulator for use on the Steam platform.
