October 9 news, according to foreign media reports, the current situation of the memory chip market is not optimistic, the slowdown in demand caused by the global economic recession has affected the demand for end products, and then affected the demand for memory chips. Some research institutions have expected that the prices of NAND flash memory and DRAM are declining, and the market oversupply will intensify next year.

The slowdown in demand for memory chips and falling prices will inevitably affect Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and other memory chip manufacturers. Samsung Electronics is currently the world's largest memory chip manufacturer, and memory chips are also an important source of revenue and profits.

When demand and prices fall, product manufacturers usually cut production to reduce inventory pressure, improve supply and demand and stabilize prices, but Samsung does not plan to cut production in the face of falling demand for memory chips.

Samsung Electronics has no plans to cut production, Han Jin-man, their executive vice president and global head of marketing for storage, revealed at a conference in San Jose, Calif., saying they had no internal discussions about cutting memory chip production.

Han Jin-man also revealed at the meeting that Samsung Electronics' basic position on reducing production of memory chips is that production should not be artificially reduced, and Samsung is trying to ensure that there is neither a long-term shortage nor oversupply of chips on the market.

Although Samsung Electronics does not plan to cut production of memory chips, memory chip maker Micron Technology is considering it. Foreign media have mentioned in the report that Micron Technology has said it may cut capital expenditure in fiscal year 2023 (by the end of September 2023) by up to 30% and chip equipment by up to 50% to slow supply growth.
