The number of new energy vehicles reached 11.49 million, with 3.713 million newly registered in the first three quarters. By the end of September, the number of new energy vehicles nationwide had reached 11.49 million, accounting for 3.65 percent of the total. Among them, the number of pure electric vehicles is 9.26 million, accounting for 80.56% of the total number of new energy vehicles. In the first three quarters of 2022, 3.713 million new energy vehicles were newly registered nationwide, an increase of 1.842 million over the same period last year, an increase of 98.48 percent, accounting for 21.34 percent of the total number of new car registrations. In the third quarter of this year, 1.495 million new energy vehicles were newly registered, with an average monthly registration of 498000 vehicles, significantly higher than the monthly average of 370000 in the first half of this year.

The second-hand car market remained active in the first three quarters, with 16.4 million motor vehicle transfers registered. In the first three quarters of 2022, local public security traffic control departments handled a total of 16.4 million motor vehicle transfer registration (transaction transfer), of which 15.35 million were motor vehicle transfer registration, accounting for 93.55%. In the first three quarters of this year, the ratio of car transfer registration to new car registration reached 1.13, which is significantly higher than that of 1.24 in the same period last year. In recent years, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Commerce and other departments have promoted the implementation of reform measures to facilitate the registration of transactions of used cars in different places, which has better promoted the circulation of used cars. In the first three quarters of this year, 2.575 million second-hand minibuses were directly registered in other places.

The number of cars in 82 cities exceeded 1 million, while that in 21 cities, including Beijing, Chengdu and Chongqing, exceeded 3 million. By the end of September, the number of cars in 82 cities across the country exceeded 1 million, an increase of 6 cities over the same period last year, more than 2 million in 38 cities and more than 3 million in 21 cities. There are more than 6 million cars in Beijing, more than 5 million in Chengdu and Chongqing, and more than 4 million in Suzhou, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Xi'an and Wuhan.

The number of motor vehicle drivers reached 499 million, with 23.92 million new licensed drivers in the first three quarters. The number of motor vehicle drivers in the country reached 499 million, of which 461 million were drivers, accounting for 92.46 percent of the total. In the first three quarters of 2022, there were 23.92 million new licensed drivers nationwide, a decrease of 2.799 million, or 10.48 percent, compared with the same period last year. At present, the number of drivers of C6 quasi-driving models has reached 346000, which can better meet the needs of the masses to drive small caravan trailers and promote the development of RV tourism new business type.
