Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen kinja for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com October 8 news, market research company Dell'Oro Group released the global telecom equipment market report for the first half of 2022. The preliminary survey results show that the overall telecom equipment market revenue growth slowed slightly from 7% in 2021 to 3% in the first half of 2022. In addition to the challenges of 5G development, a shortage of components, a stronger dollar, the withdrawal of suppliers from Russia, and a slowdown in wireless business in Japan and India are all major factors contributing to the slowdown in the global communications equipment market.

In addition, while demand for broadband equipment surged in the first half of the year, it was hardly enough to offset tepid year-on-year growth in RAN, optical transport and routers. So while growth is expected to slow in 2022, the slowdown in the second quarter was larger than expected.

There are differences in the development of markets in different regions of the world. The North American and Chinese markets grew at double-digit and high-single-digit rates in the first half of this year, respectively. Market conditions in the wider Asia-Pacific region are more challenging, and total revenue growth in the telecommunications equipment market turned negative in the second quarter of this year compared with the same period a year earlier, after two consecutive years of healthy growth in Europe.

From the perspective of manufacturers, the ranking of communications equipment suppliers remained stable in the first half of 2022, with the top 7 manufacturers accounting for about 80% of the market share. In the first half of 2022, Huawei ranked first, Nokia second, Ericsson third, ZTE fourth, Cisco fifth, Ciena sixth and Samsung seventh.

Dell'Oro Group also pointed out that in the first half of 2022, Huawei's market share in the Chinese market reached 58 per cent, ZTE 32 per cent, and other suppliers accounted for 10 per cent of the market share. In overseas markets, Huawei's market share has fallen to a negligible level.

CTOnews.com learned that Dell'Oro Group forecasts that global telecom equipment market revenue is expected to grow by 4% in 2022, a record for five consecutive years of growth.
