CTOnews.com, October 7, LG Electronics announced yesterday the launch of an updated version of the "webOS" platform for external TV companies, webOS Hub, which expands popular content such as cloud games and OTT services, improves ease of use, and launched the industry's first dedicated platform for OLED TVs, which can be customized by partners.

WebOS Hub has added cloud game services, including but not limited to NVIDIA GeForce NOW,LG smart TVs and webOS TVs with other televisions, which can enjoy a variety of games without having to buy separate devices.

In terms of streaming video, in addition to existing OTT services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney Plus, webOS Hub has also expanded OTT services such as Paramount + and FuboTV.

In addition to a variety of content, LG's smart TV comprehensive solution provides a range of advanced features, such as advanced image processing, variable refresh rate (VRR) support, and a fine-tuning game optimizer (picture and audio settings for different game types).

LG Electronics plans to further accelerate the construction of the webOS ecosystem by continuously upgrading webOS Hub content. To this end, LG is working with more than 1000 content providers (cp) around the world to integrate the content, broadcast certification and solutions needed by platform buyers.

WebOS Hub also provides additional functions such as content recommendation based on browsing history, artificial intelligence ThinQ speech recognition, smart home hub for controlling LG appliances, and so on. It can also continuously upgrade its software by receiving OTA updates from LG Electronics.

CTOnews.com has learned that it has offered WebOS as a software package since last year, and the number of brands that have chosen webOS has increased from 20 in 2021 to more than 200, including, but not limited to, Konka, Japan's Seiki, Eko, Stream System, Aiwa and Korea Hyundai, with certification support such as Dolby, Realtek, Gracenote and CEVA.
