Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen OC_Formula for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, Oct. 7, at the Samsung Tech Day 2022 event, Jung-bae Lee, president and head of the memory business of Samsung Electronics, said that Samsung has produced a total of 1 trillion GB of memory over the past 40 years, about half of which in the past three years alone.

Samsung said it had been a leader in DRAM for 30 years and NAND for 20 years. Currently, Samsung is developing the fifth generation of 10nm-level (1b) DRAM and the eighth and ninth generation of vertical NAND (V-NAND), promising to continue to provide the most powerful combination of memory technologies over the next decade.

Improvements in memory bandwidth, capacity and power efficiency have spawned a new generation of platforms, which in turn has spurred more semiconductor innovation, and Samsung will increasingly promote higher levels of integration in the process of digital coevolution, Jung-bae Lee said.

Finally, Samsung reiterated its primary goal of enhancing customer value and pursuing a customer-oriented development concept, and further expanded its ecosystem partnership. To stimulate broader open innovation, Samsung will open the Samsung memory Research Center (SMRC), where customers and partners can test and validate Samsung memory and software solutions in a variety of server environments. Starting with the opening of its first SMRC in South Korea in the fourth quarter of this year, Samsung plans to launch more centers in the US and around the world in partnership with ecosystem partners such as Red Hat and Google Cloud.
