CTOnews.com, Oct. 7, according to an internal memo obtained by The Verge, there are so many loopholes in Meta's meta-cosmic social networking app Horizon Worlds that even the team that developed it doesn't use it very much.

In one of the memos sent to employees on September 15, Vishal Shah, vice president of Metaverse at Meta, said the team would maintain a "quality lockdown" for the rest of the year to "ensure that we address our quality gaps and performance issues before opening Horizon to more users."

Horizon Worlds allows people to interact as avatars in the virtual world, a bit like the combination of Roblox and Minecraft. This is a key move after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg renamed Facebook to Meta, which spends billions of dollars a year to build a meta-universe vision. The multiplayer platform, which was launched on Meta's Quest headline in December, reached 300000 users earlier this year, and will be followed by an online version to access mobile and desktop platforms, although the memo suggests that the online version may be delayed.

"the current feedback from our creators, users, game testers and many on our team is that the app has so many stability and errors that it is difficult for our community to experience the charm of Horizon Worlds," Shah said in the memo. Simply put, for an experience to be enjoyable and nostalgic, it must first be available and well-crafted. "

Although Meta has said it will launch a more realistic avatar, Horizon Worlds's graphics quality is dwarfed by some of its non-VR competitors such as Fortnite. Recently, Zuckerberg himself was ridiculed for posting a screenshot of his Horizon Worlds avatar, which was complained of poor quality, followed by a higher-quality avatar and said he would share "major updates to the horizon and avatar graphics" at the company's annual connectivity meeting scheduled for Oct. 11.

According to Shah's internal memo, employees who build Horizon Worlds within Meta don't seem to use it very much. "for many of us, we don't spend that much time on Horizon, and our dogfooding dashboard clearly shows this. Why is that? Why don't we love the product we built and don't use it all the time? The simple truth is, if we don't love it, how can we expect our users to love it? "

In a follow-up memo on Sept. 30, Shah said that employees are still not using Horizon enough, and that a plan is being developed to "hold managers accountable" for their teams to use Horizon at least once a week. "everyone in this organization should make it their mission to fall in love with Horizon Worlds. You can't do that without it."

He went on to point out the specific problems with Horizon, writing: "our application initialization experience has left users confused and frustrated, and the team needs to introduce the first-class world to new users to ensure that their first experience is excellent."

Shah says teams working on Horizon Worlds need to work better together and expect more changes.

In a statement shared with The Verge, Meta spokesman Ashley Zandy said the company "believes that meta-universe is the future of computing and that it should be built around people."
