CTOnews.com, Oct. 6, Honda finally fully unveiled the design of its first pure electric SUV after several warm-ups. The Honda Prologue, which will launch in North America in 2024, combines the work of Honda Design Studio in Los Angeles with GM's Ultium Orlando platform.

Honda said Prologue would further expand its lineup of light trucks because it would be located on top of the CR-V and side by side with the Passport, bringing spacious passenger and cargo space.

According to reports, the electric SUV has a wheelbase of 121.8 inches (3093 mm), the same as the Cadillac Lyriq and Chevrolet Blazer EV, and 8 inches (203mm) longer and 5 inches wide than the new 2023 Honda CR-V.

The exact size of the Honda Prologue is 4876 x 1988 x 1643 mm. By contrast, the Cadillac Lyriq is slightly longer at 4996 mm, while the Blazer EV is about 4927 mm long. The cabin is said to provide plenty of space for passengers and cargo, but Honda did not provide details.

Tinged with snow on the hills, Prologue will bring a unique "North Shore Pearl" color inspired by the natural beauty and colors near Lake Tahoe in California. Honda says the visual effects of the new car can be very simple with charcoal and light gray interiors.

In the interior, the electric SUV features a standard all-digital 11-inch dashboard and an 11.3-inch large screen, physical buttons for temperature control and seat heating at the bottom of the touch screen, a multi-function steering wheel and a wireless charging board for the phone, two cup holders and a locker with a cover under the center. In addition, it features 21-inch wheels and panoramic roof decoration.

Masaki Sumimoto, director of color, materials and finishes, said, "our goal is to create a clean and harmonious image based on the solid SUV image, through the coordination of colors and materials to express the new rugged design style familiar to our customers and the unique style of Honda."

Honda didn't mention the powertrain, but it did say that the Prologue will support all-wheel drive and is expected to use a similar dual-motor setting for the Chevrolet Blazer EV, although it may not be the 557 horsepower powertrain of the top SS. According to the Blazer EV, the basic model should be a single-motor FWD with a range of about 250km (402km).

CTOnews.com learned that Gary Robinson, Honda's vice president of product planning, said the Prologue would rival Passport in size and pricing. (Passport starts at about $38000, equivalent to 269000 yuan in 2022.)
