Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com news on October 7, former Apple vice president Tony Fadell (Tony Fadell) is known as the "father of iPod." Although he no longer has any contact with Apple, he often shares his views on the company. Fadell recently shared his views on the EU's request for the iPhone to switch to the USB-C interface, which the engineer believes is "the right thing" and now believes that Apple is in a monopoly position.
Fadell said the world was "moving closer to USB-C" because of the limitations of the old standards. Mr Fadell said he was not worried about the EU forcing Apple and other smartphone makers to adopt USB-C. "they are just forcing Apple to do the right thing".
In another tweet, Fadell said regulation happened only because Apple has a similar monopoly. The engineer believes that some consumer-friendly regulation and standardization is necessary because companies are not always interested in doing the right thing for the best interests of society.
He also pointed out that forcing Apple to change the iPhone interface for environmental reasons is "much easier than a monopoly legal trial." Fadell went on to say that Apple doesn't like third parties telling it what to do.
Interestingly, one of his fans pointed out that Apple opposed the USB-C interface bill because the company made a lot of money through its MFi (made for iPhone / iPad) program for certified accessories. Fadell, the leader of the team that invented the MFi project, agrees with his fans.
Back in June, the European Union reached a common agreement to use USB-C as a standard interface for devices such as smartphones and tablets. This week, the European Union passed final legislation requiring every wired-charged device sold in Europe to have a USB-C port from 2024.
The European Union is not the only one forcing Apple to adopt USB-C in its iPhone. The U.S. Senate and Brazil's telecommunications regulator have also been considering forcing USB-C to be used on smartphones.
CTOnews.com learned that both the Mac and iPad sold by Apple currently use the USB-C interface. However, iPhone and AirPods still use the company's proprietary Lightning interface. Lightning, launched in 2012, is a better alternative to the Micro USB standard, but Lightning is now out of date.
