CTOnews.com, October 6 (Xinhua) at the Indian Mobile Congress on October 1, the country announced the official launch of the 5G mobile network, and telecom operators Airtel and Jio are ready to launch plans in specific cities such as Mumbai, Calcutta, Varanasi and Delhi.

Experts believe that mobile users will get the speed of 600Mbps in the early stages of 5G.

Jio and Airtel have announced that customers do not need to upgrade their SIM cards to get 5G support. Jio has announced policies that will provide users with network speeds of up to 1Gbps + and unlimited traffic as part of the test. In the future, this service will be gradually extended to other cities.

Ericsson experts believe that Jio mentioned that the 5G will have a speed of 1Gbps+, but only if it is very close to the mobile base station. "5G is expected to provide speeds as high as 600mbps during the startup phase because the traffic on the network will be very low. But after the full launch, it will remain in the range of 200-300mbps."

Anupam Shrivastava, former chairman of BSNL, the state-run telecom company under the Telecommunications Bureau of India's Ministry of Communications, said telecom operators may provide free 5G services to users before the full launch. "once the promotion work in the circle is over, telecom operators may announce their charging plans and charge 5G more than 4G."

Sanjay Malik, Nokia's senior vice president and head of marketing in India, mentioned that the 5G high speed will double the average data consumption per user in India within a year and a half.

In June 2022, Ericsson's mobile report mentioned that 5G was expanding faster than all previous mobile devices and was expected to account for nearly 40% of all users in India by 2027.

CTOnews.com learned that in July this year, India opened a 5G spectrum auction. The auction will include 20-year 72097.85MHz spectrum, including 600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 3300 MHz and 26 GHz bands.

"India launches 5G mobile service today, covering 13 cities for the first time."
