The new Tongkanyi tunnel is located in Tongkanyi Town, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing City, with an average distance of about 150 meters from the old tunnel, of which the narrowest point is only 22 meters away from the existing railway line, and there is shallow surface bias at the entrance and exit of the tunnel. there are structures such as the power tower of the State Grid and the pillar of railway power supply lines on the surface of the exit, so it is difficult to construct. It is also necessary to ensure that there is no disturbance to the existing tunnel during the construction period, each participating unit adopts mechanical excavation within 30 meters of the existing tunnel, the rest of the area is excavated by controlled blasting, and the control of blasting vibration speed and inspection along the line are strengthened to ensure the transportation safety of the existing Chengdu-Chongqing railway.

CTOnews.com learned that the reconstruction project from Chongqing Station to Jiangjin Section of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway starts from Chongqing Station in Yuzhong District, runs southwest through Jiulongpo District and Dadukou District, and ends at Jiangjin Station in Jiangjin District, with a total length of about 61 kilometers and a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour. After the transformation, it will operate in accordance with the railway public transport mode. In the future, in addition to traditional freight cars, public transport trains will also be operated to build a high-quality sightseeing railway line.
