CTOnews.com, Oct. 5, iOS released a beta version of iOS 16.1 Beta 4 to developers today.

In the latest iOS 16.1 beta, Apple adjusted the design of the Smart Island on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max to make it more visible in a dark background. When using dark wallpaper or activating a dark interface in dark mode, when the screen darkens or the smart island is in active use, the outside of the smart island will have a light gray border.

CTOnews.com learned that on the light-colored wallpaper where the smart island outline is already visible, the border does not appear and disappears when iPhone unlocks or does not use the smart island. If the user plays music or uses an application that displays content on Smart Island, the border will be displayed again.

In iOS 16.0.2, there is a very blurry border around Smart Island, but the iOS 16.1 Beta 4 beta version makes it more obvious. It is not clear why Apple made this change or what it will eventually add to the Smart Island interface. For users who use dark backgrounds to better integrate Smart Island into the screens around them, the new outline is a distraction.
